About this Speaker

Joseph Bruchac is a traditional storyteller and poet. An enrolled member of the Nulhegan Abenaki Nation, his work often reflects his Native ancestry and his lifelong interest in American Indian history and culture. His honors include an NEA Poetry fellowship and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Native Writers Circle of the Americas and his poems have been published in over 500 magazines and anthologies over the past five decades. Author of over 170 books in various genres, his most recent poetry collections are Nisnos Siboal/Two Rivers—a bilingual collection of poems in English and Abenaki co-authored with his son Jesse—and Four Directions, New and Recollected Poems.
